Friends of Highland Music Update May 2021

The last year has been particularly difficult for aspiring musicians who have been largely unable to access direct tuition, perform, or play with others, so Friends of Highland Music would like to offer our support where applicable. FoHM are looking forward to better times ahead for us all and wish to let everyone know that we are still keen to receive Grant Applications at this time from young musicians in particular who are looking to develop their experience in traditional music. FoHM’s Grant Scheme was set up some time ago to assist musicians, students and groups in the study, performance and promotion of Scottish Traditional Music. We have assisted many individuals and groups in recent years such as a young piper who wished to develop his already impressive skills, youth bands touring Ireland to enhance their musical experience and young Highland musicians looking to benefit from specialised teaching by established tutors, so we would encourage interested young musicians to apply.

Our website details our Grant Application process and eligibility criteria, as well as providing more background information to ourselves and access to the relevant Application Forms.

One can also read about our varied activities in supporting Traditional Music, browse our Reports and News, and learn about the many benefits gained by our worthy Grant Recipients.

To assist in this process of supporting our aspiring musicians at this difficult time, FoHM would like to expand our membership base, so why not consider joining us in our small but dedicated Charity if you are not already a Member. Membership information and an Application Form are available here;

Friends of Highland Music look forward to hearing from interested parties and potential members soon.
